back to school blues

The one thing that everyone wants going back to school? Clear skin… those back to school jitters can really get to you when the day before school you find a pimple right on your forehead. Trust me, I know the feeling. Lucky for you, I think I have a solution. Wether you’re the DIY type or you’re willing to do anything for a quick fix, I’ve got some tricks up my sleeve that can help you start off what’s going to be an amazing year!

Start with a fully cleansed, moisturized, and exfoliated face before trying any of the ingredients below for a quick acne fix.

benzoyl peroxide

Trying a 2.5% solution to clear away any acne, while you may think that solutions with 5-10% benzoyl peroxide could be more efficient, a 2.5% solution will kill just as much bacteria, while also being gentler and peeling away any layers of dead skin for a more radiant look.

salicylic acid

Dab a small drop of salicylic acid on acne before going to bed in order to kill the bacteria which is the cause of growth. This acid also aids in the promotion of new cell growth, transforming your skin’s texture. If this causes a slight redness or burning sensation when applied, don’t worry, it’s an acid, it’s just doing it’s job.

aspirin

Crush up an aspirin before mixing with a drop or two of water to create a paste. From here, gently apply to the skin in order to shrink the size of your acne.

tea tree oil

This natural oil could be the cure to all of your acne hardships, as it can shrink your pimple in size as well as remove harmful backteria.

lemon juice

This citrus effectively removes bacteria and tightens skin.

witch hazel

Before buying, make sure you find a witch hazel that doesn’t contain any alcohol which will dry out your skin. Apply a small amount on affected areas.

green tea

With more antioxidants than you can count, green tea is your key to awakened and refreshed skin. Using boiled water, steep a tea bag before letting it cool down and then applying to your face.

For those who are looking for a more long term solution to acne, I suggest using Neutrogena’s Hydrating Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes as well as their Pink Grapefruit Oil-Free Cleansing Wipes. While a cleansing towelette works on leaving your skin cleansed and moisturized, a pink grapefruit wipe, infused with salicylic acid, works to clear breakouts before you even begin to see them. If you experience a burning sensation while using these wipes, remember it’s only the acid doing its job!

Wishing you good luck on an amazing year…
